Our project experience spans building structures, affordable housing, institutional developments, public markets, civil infrastructure and multidisciplinary engineering assignments. The projects presented below highlight selected current and previous assignments reflecting the professional experience, technical expertise and multidisciplinary capabilities of MEMC’s leadership and engineering team.
Oil Storage Tanks Project
Project Type: Petroleum Storage Infrastructure
Professional Role: Civil/Structural Engineering Team Lead
Status: Completed
Major petroleum storage infrastructure comprising steel storage tanks approximately 46 metres in diameter and 10 metres high, with a capacity of approximately 13.4 million litres per tank.
The assignment involved major civil and structural engineering works associated with the tank foundations, supporting infrastructure and multidisciplinary coordination required for successful project delivery.
Nyali Smart Mixed-Use Development
Project Type: High-Rise Mixed-Use Development
Professional Role: Structural Engineering
Status: Ongoing – Geotechnical Investigation Stage
A proposed 31-storey smart mixed-use development in Nyali, Mombasa, bringing together contemporary high-rise design, intelligent building systems and multidisciplinary engineering within an integrated development.

The project is currently at the geotechnical investigation stage, including borehole drilling and Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) to establish subsurface conditions and provide the geotechnical parameters required for foundation assessment and structural design.
Tezo Affordable Housing Project
Project Type: Affordable Housing Development
Professional Role: Civil/Structural Engineering Lead Expert
Status: Ongoing
A large-scale affordable housing development at Tezo, Kilifi County, forming part of Kenya’s Affordable Housing Programme. The development comprises multiple multi-storey residential blocks together with associated infrastructure and supporting facilities.
Civil and structural engineering responsibilities include review and monitoring of structural works, assessment of construction quality and workmanship, identification and resolution of technical issues, and provision of engineering recommendations to support compliance with project requirements throughout the construction stages.
Port of Mombasa Road Crossing Barriers
Project Type: Port & Transport Infrastructure
Professional Role: Engineering Consultant – Design & Installation
Status: Completed
Design and installation of 18 road crossing barriers at the Port of Mombasa to support controlled vehicular movement, traffic control and operational safety within the port environment.
The project incorporated both automatic and manually operated barrier systems, comprising horizontal moving barriers and vertical rising barriers selected to suit different operational requirements and site conditions.
The assignment involved engineering design, fabrication and installation coordination, civil works associated with barrier foundations and supports, integration of operating mechanisms, and supervision of installation and testing prior to commissioning.

Pipeline River Crossing & Erosion Protection
Project Type: Pipeline Infrastructure / Erosion Protection
Professional Role: Civil Engineering Consultant
Status: Completed
Assessment and implementation of erosion protection measures at pipeline river crossings to safeguard pipeline infrastructure against scour, erosion and progressive deterioration of the surrounding river channel and embankments.
The assignment involved inspection and assessment of river-crossing conditions, identification of erosion and scour risks, evaluation of existing protection measures, and development and supervision of appropriate remedial works.
Protection measures included gabion structures, stone pitching and channel/embankment stabilisation works designed to control erosion, safely guide surface and river flows, and protect the integrity of the pipeline crossing.
Oil Spill Containment & Environmental Protection
Project Type:Â Petroleum Infrastructure & Environmental Protection
Professional Role: Civil Engineering Lead
Status: Completed
Design and implementation of oil spill containment facilities at several petroleum pump stations to provide controlled retention of accidental oil releases and reduce the risk of contamination of the surrounding environment.
The works involved development of containment areas and associated civil infrastructure designed to intercept and retain spilled petroleum products within designated areas, allowing controlled recovery and management before discharge could reach surrounding land or drainage systems.
Civil engineering responsibilities included assessment of site conditions, development of appropriate containment arrangements, design and supervision of the associated earthworks, concrete works, drainage and erosion protection measures, together with coordination of the works within operational petroleum facilities.
